Great job this weekend to everyone who raced and to all who helped make the weekend a success. The results were just posted on the conference site, and the club came in 1st place over all D-1 and D-2 schools. This is the first time in recent memory (the race has been run 6 of the last 7 years, and five consecutively) that we've beaten out the conference powerhouses like UVM, UNH, and NU. Lots of great racing by freshmen, first time mountain riders, and seasoned veterans of South Mountain contributed to the victory that capped an epic weekend of XC, DH, and Clusterhucking.
The final points for the weekend are listed below:
1. LEHIGH 248
2. Boston College 208
3. UVM 193
4. RIT 171
5. Penn State 126
6. UNH 117.5
The first of many points to be scored this weekend came from the C XC race early Saturday morning, with Andy riding to a 3rd place finish and roadie Marten Beels following in 4th in his first mountain race in a huge field of 22. Billy and Alex also scored points, coming in 7th and 11th, respectively. The B XC race was the beginning of complete domination of all things cross-country by Rob. Passing most of the A field, which left 5 minutes ahead of B, he easily came in first by over six and a half minutes. Tom rounded out the top 5 and Luke finished in 9th, further adding to the point totals.
The downhill riders kept the point scoring going, with Rachel flying to a first place finish in Women's A. Jay rode to a win in B, with CK and Luke also scoring points with 5th and 7th place finishes in a field of eight. Kris got his first of two individual and three total wins on the weekend in C, while Andy also put up a 4th place finish.
The Clusterhuck relay added to the win tallies for Lehigh Cycling, with Rob (XC) and Jay (DH) winning B with the best time across all categories, and Andy (XC) and Kris (DH) taking C.
Sunday was a repeat of the first day of racing, with first time mountain riders coming up big. Brandon came in 3rd place out of 9 in the C short track race in his first mountain race ever. Rob, once again, won the B STXC. Tom and Eric came in 5th and 7th out of 10, further adding to the point total.
In the downhill, Jay and Luke put up identical times to take 3rd and 4th in B, while Kris and Andy took a 1-2 finish in C.
Nice work all, good weekend. I have no skills.
